CLEVELAND (AP) -- A former stripper has testified in Cleveland that she saw freewheeling drug use and sexual activity while performing at clubs in seven states.
Julie Shematz testified today in support of a new state law banning contact between exotic dancers and their customers. She spoke during the second day of a hearing in which Ohio's adult entertainment industry is asking a federal judge to block enforcement of the new law.
Forty-two-year-old Shematz said during her performing days, dancers used drugs and had sexual contact with each other and their customers. She said evidence of prostitution was common.
Ohio's adult entertainment industry argues that there's no connection between strip clubs and any increase in crime.
